Spicewood, perhaps best known as home to country music legend Willie Nelson's ranch, lies at the intersection of three counties and various watery boundaries just 22 miles northwest of Austin and 16 miles southeast of Marble Falls. Many residents own personal lakefront property and enjoy country living on the doorstep of many notable parks, including the famous Pace Bend Park.
The hilly community is an unincorporated area of lakes, vineyards, farms, and ranches that stretches from just south of Marble Falls through a sliver of Blanco County and almost to the Travis County town of Bee Cave, with its large shopping malls. In the fall, vibrant fall colors can be seen atop the hills and along the banks of the Pedernales River, which bisects the community. Citizens opened a library not long ago, and sponsor everything from art and music events to a demolition derby. The area is resplendent with great restaurants, art galleries, bars and live music venues.
