The hopes of Spicewood Volunteer Fire Department members and community members alike have come to fruition with the announcement of an agreement between the newly formed Burnet County ESD 9 and the department Wednesday.
The two entities signed a first emergency services provider agreement, effective Oct. 1, for the district’s area in southeast Burnet County.
“These contracts are set up for one year beginning at the start of the fiscal year; in October,” said ESD 9 President Karen Bruett.
Bruett said that the agreement with ESD 9 would give the Spicewood Volunteer Fire Department “a reliable stream of funding rather than rely solely on fundraising.”
