Granite Shoals has been listed among Texas State Comptroller Leadership Circle Silver Award recipients, Mayor Dennis Maier told the Granite Shoals City Council Tuesday night.

“This award recognizes financial transparency,” said Maier. “We want to give credit to Finance Director Wendy Gholson and City Secretary Elaine Simpson for their work to qualify for it.”

“We’re going for gold next year,” said Gholson.

Burnet County and the Marble Falls and Llano Independent School Districts earned gold award recognition last year but, so far in 2014, Granite Shoals City government has been the only entity in the area recognized for: opening books to the public, providing clear, consistent pictures of spending and sharing information in a user-friendly format.
