Chase Martin finished fifth in the 100-meter hurdles to highlight the Lady Mustangs efforts at the UIL state track and field championships Friday at Mike A. Myers Stadium on the University of Texas campus.
The Lady Mustang sophomore ran a 14.49 to finish in the middle of the pack in the race. Forney’s Kiana Hawn won in 13.82. Others ahead of Martin were Tonea Marshall of Arlington Seguin, Samantha Gonzalez of Carrollton Creekview and Jaelin Hatton of Fort Bend Marshall.
Martin’s two points put the Lady Mustangs team in 46th in the meet. Lancaster won the meet with 70 points.
Martin was seventh in the 300-meter hurdles with 44.99 time. Creekview’s Gonzalez won the 300s in 41.83.
The Lady Mustangs 4×400 relay team of Natalie Schulz, Sarah Lewis, Maddie Johnson and Martin were ninth. They ran a 3:59.41. Lancaster won in a 3:47.75 to rack up 20 points in the relay.
Schulz also competed in the long jump and leaped 17-5 for seventh place.
