Marble Falls assistant superintendent Wade Stanford said Marble Falls administrators are still going through the process in their search for a new head football coach and athletic director, but a new coach is expected to be recommended at the May 19 school board meeting.

“We’re still taking applications and screening people,’’ Stanford said. “We’re looking at every possibility to find the right person.’’

The Marble Falls job came open May 2 when Todd Dodge accepted the Westlake High School job.

Dodge took five assistant coaches with him for his new challenge at Class 6A Westlake.

Marble Falls has postponed spring football practice and is awaiting the new hire before deciding on spring ball. If Marble Falls doesn’t have spring ball, the Mustangs will have an extra week of preseason workouts in August.

Marble Falls’ season opener for the 2014 season is Aug. 29 against rival Burnet at Marble Falls. Marble Falls beat the Bulldogs in both meetings under Dodge.
