Llano County investigators arrested a suspected illegal alien and launched a search for a second suspect after tips led deputies to a Kingsland man’s body in a remote area.

The investigation unfolded Sept. 17 when the Llano County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) received information about a body that had been dumped in the Round Mountain area, according to a media release.

“We don’t believe

‘[T]he Sheriff’s Office spoke to multiple witnesses, and then were led to a wooded area off of Hamilton Pool Road.’

– Llano County Sheriff's Office there is any threat to the community," LCSO Chief Deputy Brad Evans told The Highlander.

The media release continued, "Deputies and investigators with the sheriff's office spoke to multiple witnesses, and then were led to a wooded area off of Hamilton Pool Road in Travis County." Searchers combed the wooded area “and within a few minutes, investigators found the body of a male subject."

LCSO released the identity of the victim as 27-year-old Martin Rive - ra Montezuma of King - sland. Investigators from Travis County Sheriff’s Office were contacted to process the scene.

Evans added that on Sept. 21 evidence led in - vestigators to a location in Burnet County where the death may have occurred. Details are pending.

Montezuma's body was transported to Travis County Medical Examin - er's Office to determine cause of death.

The discovery result ed in an initial arrest in the case at 2:30 a.m. on Sept. 18.

Luis Chacaj Tahual, 45, was booked into the Llano County Jail and charged with tampering with or fabricating ev - idence (human corpse) with intent to impair.

The charge is a second degree felony, punishable by up to 20 years in pris- on with a conviction.

Tahual’s bond was set at $50,000. As of Sept. 21, Tahual remained in custo - dy. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement of - ficials were notified due to his status as being in the U.S. illegally, officials confirmed.

Officials also said that LCSO issued a war - rant for a second suspect, 25-year-old Pedro Chilo -

tillo – also a suspected illegal alien – on a charge of tampering with or fab-

ricating evidence (human corpse) with intent to impair.
