First 281 bridge span to open in December
Crews are currently working on the north side of the new 281 bridge as they try to complete the connection between the center of the bridge and the north abutment.

Construction crews are ahead of the proposed schedule to complete the new US 281 bridge, and it is set to open for northbound traffic in a few months, according to TxDOT.

Work is currently being done at the north abutment segment, connecting the new bridge to the north side of Lake Marble Falls.

In the next few months, Archer Western construction workers should fill the final gap connecting the center of the bridge to the north abutment, TxDOT’s project supervisor Jason Cavness said.

"The final connection is scheduled to be made in November,” Cavness said. "The remaining work will beconstruction of the north andsouth bridge approach slabs, the barrier rail on the sides of the bridge, and other miscellaneous workwhich will be completed in late December.”

This is the same month when the new bridge will be open to northbound traffic only, ending the first of three project milestones.
