Attorney Shell arrested after court clashSeptember 27, 2012, 5:00 pm by Adam Troxtell
Marble Falls defense attorney Eddie Shell has never been known to shy from saying what is on his mind and Tuesday it cost him a contempt of court arrest in Cottonwood Shores Municipal Court. Undaunted, he told the judge he had been held in contempt "by better judges than you.” Shell was arrested after being held in contempt by Judge Don Adams. The attorney was in Adams’ court to request a continuance for a client so – according to Shell – he could attend the funeral of his grandfather in Kansas. Adams granted the continuance but according to Shell, "The judge said, ‘I’m going to grant this continuance, but I personally know your client is lying.’” For more on the story, see Friday's Highlander. Reader CommentsSo why don't they need documention of the funeral? Sounds like the defendant might be guilty of perjury. First of all the judge should have the professionalism to not confront an officer of the court in the presence of the court. Judge Don Adams WHO? Eddie Shell is a Winner and I support him.
VIVA, VIVA TEXAS!
You have to consider anyone willing to pay shell's "ridiculous price" is guilty.
Mr. Shell is absolutely right about the Judge having an all ready perceived opinion about Shells client. And to openly say it is really sttupid for a judge to do. Its also a MAJOR conflict of interest.. There is a definite problem with Muni Judges all over the country. They get hired by their cities to be revenue makers and don,t always know the real laws or ethics issues.. Go Mr, Shell, you sir are a patriot. I am tired of lawers thinking that they are above everyone and I applaud Judge Adams for helding him in contempt. you would think if the judge KNEW he was lying he wouldn't have granted it...duh |
