Granite Shoals POA Night Out set for TuesdaySeptember 27, 2012, 9:00 pm by Glynis Crawford Smith Friends, family and neighbors will gather for food, music and fellowship at the Granite Shoals Police Officers Association Night Out, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday night at Highland Lakes Elementary School Oct. 2. Kids can visit a jump castle and the whole family can enjoy free popcorn and snow cones and JP’s Felony BBQ Wraps (barbecue prepared by Chief of Police J.P. Wilson and the officers of the POA.) Like its national counterpart, the local celebration aims at building bridges to crime prevention. "Purpose is to bring the community and law enforcement together to build a sprit of cooperation and interaction,” said Sgt. Russell Kneese, GSPOA vice president. "It is citizen support that actually makes it possible for the POA to hold events like the Night Out, the annual Easter egg hunt and to support Christmas Outreach. "This is money directed through utility bill donations and private contributions at work. Everything except raffle tickets is free.” Major co-sponsors include ACE Hardware, Blue Bonnet Café, Chili’s, HEB, Home Depot, Johnson-Sewell Ford, LCRA Employees United Charities, River City Grille, Texas Municipal Police Officers Association and Walmart. |
