Deputies arrest K’land arson suspect

October 03, 2012, 4:40 pm by Frank L. Graham

The Llano County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 17-year-old Kingsland youth after an investigation revealed he allegedly set fire to a woodpile in the 100 block of Wood Forest.

Dane Albert Burgess was taken into custody after he was arrested at a Kingsland residence Oct. 2. He was being held in the Llano County Jail on a $250,000 bond.

Chief Deputy John Neff of the LCSO said Burgess was arrested at 5:23 p.m. that day and booked into the Llano County Jail for one count of arson.

Neff said the deputies, along with assistance from the State Fire Marshall’s office, have been investigating approximately 20 fires that occurred in the Kingsland area that began on June 25. He said the investigation involved many man hours as investigators followed up on leads, gathered physical evidence and conducted surveillance that eventually led them to Burgess.

The Llano County Sheriff’s Department is requesting that anyone with information about the fires or Burgess to come forward and call the LCSO at 325. 247.5767.
