Spicewood accident sends one to hospitalNovember 02, 2012, 8:20 pm by Alexandria Randolph
A two-car accident in Spicewood on TX 71 sent one Kingsland woman to the hospital Friday night. Burnet County Sheriff’s deputy Chad Taliaferro first responded to the scene in front of the Spicewood General Store at 7:10 p.m. Marble Falls EMS, Spicewood Volunteer Fire Department and EMS, and DPS officers also responded to the scene. According to state trooper Jose Colombo, Amanda Preece of Spicewood was pulling out of the store parking lot in a green Honda Pilot and failed to give right of way to oncoming traffic. She was struck on the passenger side door by a 1998 Honda Civic, driven by Kingsland resident Amanda Cartwright. The trooper said the collision caused Preece's car to do a 180-degree spin into the General Store parking lot, where it came to rest. Preece was treated for minor injuries at the scene and released. Cartwright received compound fractures to both ankles and was flown by Starflight to Brackenridge Hospital in Austin after complaining of chest pain. Cartwright remains in Brackenridge Hospital but is currently stable, authorities said. |
