Will drought order stand? Officials not sure when LCRA may reconsider vote

The Lower Colorado River Authority Board of Directors likely will not revisit a controversial emergency drought order approved last month until January, Burnet County Director John Franklin said Tuesday.
"I don't believe so,” Franklin said when asked if the emergency order might be on the LCRA's December board meeting agenda. "If we do it, I believe it will be next month in January.”
If weather conditions continue as they have the past several weeks and the amount of water in the Lake Buchanan and Lake Travis reservoirs continues to fall, the directors will likely reconsider the emergency order adopted last month in Fredericksburg that almost certainly would result in almost 150,000 acre feet of water being released from the lakes next spring for use by downstream rice farmers.
"If things continue the way they are and have been it could be beneficial to efforts to get a higher trigger point and keep more water in the lakes,” Franklin said.
