Student pair wins MFISD Christmas card competitionDecember 06, 2012, 9:00 pm by Christy Clardy
Victor Lazo and Allison Goytia from Marble Falls Middle School created this year’s Marble Falls ISD Christmas cards. Each year, the art department from one campus in Marble Falls ISD, has the opportunity to submit their students’ creations for selection as the official District greeting cards. This was the year for Marble Falls Middle School artists to shine. Lazo and Goytia’s creations were the winners among all MFMS art students. Victor Lazo, also a 7th grader who participates in athletics, band and art, designed his card around what he imagines Christmas is all about. "I wanted to use a lot of colors that reminded me of Christmas for the card,” Lazo said. "I haven’t seen snow, but I imagined what the Earth would look like covered in it. I’m happy to win the $50 Walmart gift card for my design. I can’t wait to buy video games to play over Christmas break!” Allison Goytia, a MFMS 7th grade student who loves to participate in art and drama at the school, was inspired to create her Toy Soldier card from the Nutcracker, a play one of her Highland Lakes Elementary English Language Arts teachers showed her class. "My favorite colors are red and blue,” said Goytia, so I designed the card around those colors.”See their designs in Friday's Highlander. |
