Walter M. Head

Walter M. Head, 64, passed away on Dec. 7.
A resident of Art, Texas, Head was born in Austin to Jesse and Helen Head in 1948. In 1971, he married his sweetheart Diana Gail Hunt. In their 41 years together, they raised four children and recently welcomed their first grandchild. Head faithfully served the people of Texas throughout a long career at the USDA retiring as a District Director in the Department of Rural Development. Throughout his life, he enjoyed roping and riding, and being outdoors. At 6-foot, 9-inches tall, he was a giant of a man physically, but even larger in heart and character. He will be remembered for his intelligence, kindness, wisdom and ever-present sense of humor.
He is survived in loving memory by his wife Diana; children Amy, Wesley, Douglas, and Audra; sister Linda; granddaughter Olivia; and a host of other relations and friends.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, Dec. 11, from 5-7 p.m. at the Waldrope Hatfield Hawthorne Funeral Home in Llano.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Dec. 12 at 1 p.m. at the Art United Methodist Church with Reverend Cliff Krcha officiating, burial to follow at the Head Family Cemetery in Art.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jason Hoff, Douglas Head, Will Henderson, James Burroughs, Roger Jordan, Rusty Head, Kyle Beaver and Benny Gray.
Honorary pallbearers will be Richard Morris, Ronnie Haffelder and Gary Bell.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Art United Methodist Church.
