Betty Jean Turner July 17, 1931 ~ Dec. 31, 2012
Betty Jean Turner, 81, of Bertram passed away Monday, Dec. 31. She was born in Sinton, Texas on July 17, 1931 to Forest Holloway and Susie Vickers Holloway.
She married D.L. "Punk” Turner in Bertram on Dec. 27, 1954 and the couple just celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary. Turner was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who truly worshiped her special granddaughters. She enjoyed cooking, keeping her house spotless and working in her yard. She looked forward to getting her hair done on Thursdays and afterwards going shopping for groceries. Going out to eat and visiting with her family and friends were things she cherished to the very end.
Turner is survived by her loving and faithful husband D.L. "Punk” Turner of Bertram; daughter Teresa Jean Ellis and husband Lee of Grand Junction, Colo.; granddaughters Kathryne and Emma; brother Theodore Holloway and wife Margaret of Leander; and numerous nieces and nephews who loved her very much.
She was preceded in death by brothers James William Holloway, Gladden "Jack” Holloway, and Douglas Holloway; and sisters Edna Moore and Nell Smith.
A memorial service in her memory will be held Thursday, Jan. 3 at 11 a.m. at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Chapel in Burnet with Ronnie Brooks officiating.
Memorial contributions in her memory can be made to the Bertram Volunteer Fire Department or to the Joann Cole Mitte Memorial Library in Bertram. The family would to thank the nurses and staff of Bertram Nursing and Rehab, and Danielle for their love and care of Turner.
Condolences to the family may be made to www.clementswilcoxburnet.com.
