Park road wreck hospitalizes two
Burnet Fire Department and Burnet Volunteer Fire Department work to cut the top of an SUV off after the damage it suffered in a wreck trapped the two occupants, who suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Two teenage girls were sent to the hospital after their vehicle nearly rolled over in an accident on Park Road 4 last night.

Both the driver, 17, and passenger, 18, whose names were not released, were taken to Brackenridge Hospital in Austin, and the driver was taken by AirEvac. The white SUV they were traveling in struck a tree around 7 p.m. last night after it nearly rolled coming over one of the many hills on Park Road 4. DPS Trooper Frank Randolph said the injuries were non-life threatening.

"They were traveling eastbound when, for an unknown reason, they lost control of the vehicle,” Randolph said. "The vehicle began to roll to the right and went off the road. That’s when it hit a tree that prevented it from rolling.”

The vehicle came to rest right side up, but the damage trapped the occupants inside. Burnet Fire Department and Burnet Volunteer Fire Department had to cut part of the top of the car off to get the driver and passenger out. Burnet County Sheriffs also responded to the accident, which shut down Park Road 4 for about an hour.
