Eddie William Renken Sept. 1, 1921 ~ Jan. 7, 2013

Eddie William Renken, 91, of Pflugerville, formerly of Tow, passed away Jan. 7. He was born to Eddie Carl and Katherine (Spoede) Renken on Sept. 1, 1921 in Wallis, Texas.
Renken was raised in Wallis until he joined the U.S. National Guard in 1940. His unit was activated later that year and he proudly served his country until 1945 during WWII. He married Jeanette Schoenberg on March 22, 1946 in Rosenberg, Texas.
They moved to Tow and he was the postmaster from 1948 to 1977 and was a founding member of
the Tow Volunteer Fire Department. Renken was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Llano and Immanuel Lutheran in Pflugerville. During his free time he liked to hunt deer, varmints, and turkey, and fished on the Brazos River and Lake Buchanan.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Jeanette Renken, of Pflugerville; daughter Mary Jane Dunnigan and husband Steve of Pflugerville; grandson Michael Edward Dunnigan, of Pflugerville; brother Bernie Renken; niece Denise Connally; and nephews Rob Renken, Bernie Renken, Jr. and Thomas Renken.
He was preceded in death by his mother, father, and brothers Bill, Lou, and Fred.
Pallbearers were Kyle Connally, David Dunnigan, Kevin Dunnigan, Kyle Hopf, Thomas Renken,
Robert Renken, and honorary pallbearer, Michael Edward Dunnigan.
Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Friday Jan. 11 at the Tow Cemetery and a memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday Jan. 20 at Heatherwild Assisted Living in Pflugerville with Pastor Tom Kesselring presiding.
