Lady Mustangs secure key win over Cedar Park

January 25, 2013, 9:25 pm by Mark Goodson

Marble Falls rallied from an 11-point deficit to beat Cedar Park in overtime Friday night and put the Lady Mustangs in prime shape to make the girls’ basketball playoffs.

Marble Falls outscored Cedar Park 10-8 in overtime to come away with a 57-55 victory in the District 25-4A game at Max Copeland Gym.

Marble Falls’ Sarah Stripling scored 21 of her game-high 23 points after halftime and made a 3-pointer off the top of the key at the regulation buzzer to send the game into overtime.

Reann Hall had 11 points and played solidly in the paint for the Lady Mustangs (19-11, 5-4). Hayley Fishbeck had a strong game inside and provided some key defense and Kaitlyn Naumann came up big with her perimeter shooting.

Stripling hit the game-winner when she drove through the middle of the defense and hit a floater from 12-feet in the lane with 13 seconds left.

Cedar Park managed two shots on goal in the final seconds, but Blanca Fonseca pulled down the rebound and dribbled out the clock.
