Filing begins for May city elections

January 30, 2013, 9:00 pm by Adam Troxtell

The official filing period for public office began today, with multiple council positions up for grabs as well as the mayor’s seat in Marble Falls.

Residents of Marble Falls and Meadowlakes who are interested in running for public office can now apply to enter the general election, which will be held on May 11. Marble Falls Mayor George Russell’s seat will be contested, along with the places of council members Jane Marie Hurst, Ryan Nash, and Sharon Pittard.

In Meadowlakes, council member and Mayor Pro Tem Franzella Jones, and council members Paul Sarcione and Barry Cunningham will see their seats contested in the May election.

"It really does take a village,” Jones said about serving on city council, "and everyone has to work together.”

Roy, you sound like you know your stuff....I encourage you to run. I am giving it some thought but with a full time job and kids at home I am not sure I have the ability to commit the time needed.
