Marker moved to original Old Factory Building site
A Texas historical marker was officially moved to the site of the long-gone Old Factory Building Saturday. Unveiling it is Burnet County Historical Commission member Fay Dockery and county commissioner Joe Don Dockery.

A Texas historical marker that tells the curious Old Factory Building story has been moved back to the site of what was the largest structure in Marble Falls.

Construction of the new US 281 bridge made moving the marker a must. It had been consigned to a downtown parking lot near – but not where – the original Old Factory Building stood. It now sits at the entrance of the River City Grille, thanks to River City Grille owner Paul Brady, the city and the Burnet County Historical Commission.

"We all know how difficult it is to get an official Texas historical marker,” Marble Falls Mayor George Russell told about 40 frigid history buffs and civic leaders on a chilly Saturday morning March 2. "We found it’s even more difficult to get permission to move one.”

The historical marker offers an abbreviated history of the mammoth 300-by-100 foot, four-story tall Old Factory Building, built to house a textile mill using cotton farmed in Burnet, Llano and adjacent counties.
