Late filings lead to contested races

March 04, 2013, 6:53 pm by Adam Troxtell

Two names were thrown into the Marble Falls city election hat at the last minute on Friday, ensuring the mayor’s seat and council places will be contested in May.

John Davis submitted an application on the final day for filing, March 1, to challenge incumbent George Russell for mayor. Local businessman Russell "RB” Buster also filed on Friday to become one of four vying for three council spots. George "Butch” Kemper will be running against him, along with incumbents Jane Marie Hurst and Ryan Nash.

The two spots up for election on the Marble Falls ISD Board of Trustees will go to incumbents Mike Savage and Karl Westerman, who are the only ones that filed for those places.
