Car salesman indicted in fraudMarch 11, 2013, 7:00 pm by Alexandria Randolph
A former Burnet car salesman was indicted by a Burnet County grand jury on 13 counts of false statement for property following an investigation that led authorities on a trail of fraudulent activity that allegedly began in 2009. George Tolbert Thibodaux, 35, was booked in Burnet County Jail on March 8 on bond of $240,000. Each of the 13 counts of fraud is a third-degree felony. Thibodaux was initially arrested in October after an investigation by Marble Falls Police and the Texas Rangers. The investigation began in April when Caldwell County resident Kathryn Meneley reported that her identity had been used to purchase a truck without her permission. Police said that when Meneley attempted to purchase a new
car, her credit limit on her card was found to be insufficient. Believing that
to be incorrect, Meneley reviewed her credit information and notified
authorities, police said. For the full story, see Tuesday's Highlander. |
