Cyclists race across Hill Country
San Antonio resident Will Barnard crosses the finish line in Johnson Park after a 60-mile journey across the Hill Country in the Race Across America Challenge Series bicycle event on Saturday. Right behind him is father-in-law Randy Randolph.

Cyclists covered hundreds of miles of Hill Country road this weekend when the Race Across America (RAAM) cycling series came to Marble Falls last weekend.

From 5 a.m. Saturday morning, riders were lining up at the starting point in Johnson Park to take part in five different courses, ranging from 30 miles up to a whopping 400 miles in length. Either by themselves or in teams, cycling enthusiasts from across the Hill Country and beyond set out to either test their own endurance or test it against others.

"We have 110 cyclists at this event,” Erin Silver, RAAM operations manager said. "The 400-mile is a Race Across America qualifier, and the 200-mile is a race.”
