City Council Approves Bond, Special Election
August 21, 2013, 7:30 am by
The Marble Falls City Council voted unanimously to bring a special election to voters on Nov. 5 that will include questions about amending the city charter and new city facilities.
The bond election will include two propositions. The first will be for an aquatics center and related facilities including a bath house and a concession stand not to exceed $2,125,000. The second will be for a multi-purpose athletic field and related facilities including a restroom, concession area, lighting, bleachers and playground equipment not to exceed $1,000,000.
The special election will bring voters six proposed amendments to the city charter. The first would establish a place system for city council and the second will establish the manner council is compensated. The third amendment will determine whether city council should be allowed to cancel one of their two regular monthly meetings and the fourth amendment will amend the language in the charter regarding the qualifications to for municipal judge. The fifth will ask voters to change the time period requirement outlined in the charter for canvassing election votes. The final proposition will amend the charter to specify the franchises to public utilities may be granted by ordinance as well as contract.

Lets dont call it a POOL. Call it an Outdoor Family Aquatics center so folks will think its some special facility.
And dont call it A soccer or baseball field. Its a multi purpose facility which Includes Playground equipment.
And both will cost way more then what voters blindly approve.
Amendments. So they want a place system now and to Be compensated..Hmm will they still be serving for the RIGHT reasons.
And they want the option to cancel one of the monthly meetings. Seems appropriate to me.I mean the less they are there the less damage they could do.
And why change the election process.? We wouldnt want to make sure all votes are proper now would we.
Qualification change for the Muni Judge. How hard could being in charge of revenue generation be?
Alright then. Lets go vote.

Don't replace the election system. I wish the school board had the same so the top vote recipients won and folks didn't have to run against a specific person.

Place systems are a sham. Dont let these council members fool you. Its a way to target specific members.Quit trying to change the city charter so special interests groups can get their person into office.. Does anyone want to see an election here where you could potentially have 3 candidates running just to chase out 1 incumbent while others go unopposed. Oh if if these yahoos want a family aquatics center. At least show the VOTING public an Actual plan that shows exactly what you want to build and with the true costs.Same with the sports facilities.
