Tennis squad falls to Cedar Park

Cedar Park turned the tables on Marble Falls in team tennis Tuesday, beating the Mustangs 10-5 in the first round of team tennis bracket play at Marble Falls High School.
The Mustangs’ top seeds did well, but the team depth cost the Mustangs against the Timberwolves.
Marble Falls had beaten Cedar Park, 10-9, in dramatic fashion last Friday to earn a rematch with Cedar Park.
Madison Dyer, a junior and No. 1 player for the Mustangs, won her singles match over Kourtney Ramsey 6-3, 4-6, 6-1, battling back to post a strong record for the fall. Dyer was 22-4 overall and 12-2 in district for the fall season.
Dyer and Hannah Dockery won in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3, over Ramsey and Remy Marquette in girls doubles. Dockery finished 6-1 in district doubles action.
Marble Falls No. 2 girls doubles line of Makenzie Harrison and Lauren Parten had another hard-earned win over Connie Zhao and Emily Zhao, 6-4, 6-7, 6-3.
"Mustang tennis team played a hard fought match against Cedar Park in the district tournament,’’ Marble Falls coach Jeff Savage said. "We were up 4-3 after the doubles matches, then lost a few key singles matches that ended our chances for the area tournament. I'm very proud of our Mustang tennis team and what we've accomplished this fall."
Cedar Park advances to play Rouse and Dripping Springs takes on No. 1 seed Vandegrift on Friday.
In mixed doubles, sophomore Jared Edwards and Tess Cryer notched a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Williamson and Head.
Marble Falls had two of its losses go to three sets. Liam Baskin and Noah Guillen fell in boys No. 2 doubles, 6-2, 3-6, 6-4, Ankur Singh and Nathan Vu. Edwards fell to Nate Possis, 6-3, 3-6, 6-1 in singles.
In No. 3 boys doubles, Regan Hanish and Jordan Childress lost, 6-2, 6-4, to Memo Hernandez and Collin Lawrence.
In boys singles, No. 1 Michael Holder lost, 7-5, 7-6, to Will Richardson. Mike Stripling fell, 6-2, 6-2, to Memo Hernandez.
Hanish and Baskin lost splits with Singh and Vu.
The No. 3 girls doubles team of AnneClaire McCannon and Savannah Vincent lost 6-2, 6-3, to Heather Etherton and Rebekah Storlee.
In girls singles, Dockery lost 6-02, 6-2, to Remy Marquette and Cryer lost 6-2, 6-1 to Heather Etherton.
