Groups come together to help veterans
Letty Templeton, front left, Allison Bennett, back third from left, and the Hooked on Threads group gives back to veterans by doing crafts they love.

Hooked On Threads, a Marble Falls thread and fabric craft group is joining forces with several area sewing groups and ladies auxiliary organizations to provide quilts and lap robes to wounded veterans.

The handmade quilts and lap robes will be given to wounded soldiers and hospice patients at the Olin E Teague Veterans’ Medical Center in Temple on Dec. 14. The Burnet Auxiliary, Marble Falls Auxiliary, First Baptist Church of Burnet, Creative Hearts of the First Baptist Church of Marble Falls and the Spicewood Baptist Church are participating, as well as many other groups. Hooked on Threads is seeking individuals to donate fabrics, yarn skeins or finished projects.

"We currently have 90 blankets made and 100 that have been promised,” said Allison Bennett, a member of Hooked on Threads. "We have 10 active members. We have a constant flow of good people. Everyone’s at a different level.”
