Owner puts Blue Bonnet expansion on hold
With plans to expand the Blue Bonnet Cafe building scrapped, owner John Kemper said he's strictly concentrating on repaving the old feed store lot next door for parking.

Owner John Kemper said, like most construction projects, his plans to expand the Blue Bonnet Cafe just got too big, and that’s why they have been put on hold.

Last spring, Kemper began working with the city to see how Marble Falls’ most famous restaurant could take advantage of the vacant lot next door, formerly a feed store. The plan was to expand the building to add seating, a larger waiting area, new restrooms and a new storage area, and then convert the old feed store lot into new parking.

As the pieces fell into place – including Blue Bonnet’s purchase of an alley right behind the restaurant – construction was scheduled to begin on Monday. But last Friday, Kemper asked construction crews to suspend their work so he could form a new plan.
