Thousands raised for Komen at salon Cut-a-thon
Anita Catlett, right, donated the hair she had cut by stylist Sarah Geringer at Salon on Broadway’s Cut-a-thon cancer research benefit to the Locks of Love organization, which donates wigs to children that must undergo chemotherapy.

Stylists at the Salon on Broadway, with some help from local businesses and residents, brought in over $2,500 during their Cut-a-Thon cancer research benefit Saturday afternoon.

For a large portion of Saturday, the salon’s 13 stylists worked for free and all the money they collected will go to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation. In addition to doing hair and nails, the salon hosted a silent auction, which should bring in an extra few hundred dollars. Local businesses like Showbiz Cinema, Three White Doves, R Bar and Grill, On the Rocks, Atkins Pharmacy, GG Ganache, Plenty Boutique and Janie’s Mexican food all donated items for the auction.

Salon on Broadway owner Lisa Brady said she was pleasantly surprised by the community response, since she did not have to do much to get people involved.

"We didn’t have to go out and ask; the community responded on its own,” Brady said.

People give Susan G. Komen money to fight breast cancer and Susan G. Komen gives some of that donated money to the babykillers at Planned Parenthood. I don't think people who give money to Susan G. Komen to fight breast cancer, know their money is going to an abortion organization that kills unborn babies. 1 Corinthians 5:6 Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump?
