Group told global warming non-issueOctober 29, 2012, 8:50 pm by Adam Troxtell
The Highland Lakes Energy Group got their quarterly lunch on Monday with a side of statistical data that shows carbon dioxide increases – such as emissions from fossil fuels – do not strongly correlate with increases in temperature, according to a presentation by an energy industry expert. Dr. Pete Rose, who received his Ph. D. in geology from the University of Texas, gave the presentation at River City Grille on Monday at noon during a Highland Lakes Energy Group luncheon. In it, he produced data that supports continued oil and natural gas production while keeping an eye on the future, when non-renewable energy runs out. "A healthy fossil fuel industry will buy us time to switch to these alternative energy sources,” Rose said. "Consumption of energy is directly proportional to productivity, employment, and GDP. As consumption rises, GDP rises faster.” The Highland Lakes Energy Group was put together for current and retired energy professionals in the area that are interested in keeping up with the industry. Bill Parmeter, oil and gas officer for Austin Trust Company, organized the group. He said they try to do lunches about once every quarter and are looking for new members. For the full story, see Tuesday's Highlander. Reader CommentsSounds like this industry hack needs to get a bucket and go over to the east coast to help them deal with the effects of this "non-issue." Where did they find this guy? |
