C'Shores Council responds to Alvarenga wage claim

December 06, 2012, 10:30 pm by Alexandria Randolph

Following an executive session in the regular meeting Thursday, Cottonwood Shores City Council voted to deny former employee Chris Alvarenga’s wage claim.

After a hearing on her second termination appeal on Oct. 18, former City Treasurer Chris Alvarenga’s termination was upheld by council in a unanimous vote. The council then authorized City Attorney Alan Petrov to discuss a settlement with Alvarenga and her attorney Steve Hurst. Neither Hurst nor Alvarenga were present Thursday when the settlement was denied by another unanimous vote.

In other action by the council, a letter to FEMA regarding the new flood plain maps was approved. Written by councilmember Roger Wayson, the letter outlines the concerns that the city has with the new flood plain maps and flood zoning.
