Police seizes cash, drugs, guns in hotel

December 17, 2012, 10:00 pm by Alexandria Randolph

Marble Falls Police Department seized over 25 pounds of marijuana, two weapons and over $20,000 in cash in a hotel room on Saturday.

"We got a tip with the info that drugs, money and guns were in a room in the La Quinta,” said Marble Falls Capt. Glenn Hanson.

Based on the tip by an unidentified individual, police obtained a search warrant for a rented room at 501 W RR 2147, Hanson said.

Police searched the unoccupied room at 5:07 p.m. on Saturday and while no arrests were made, the search resulted in the seizure of over 25 pounds of marijuana, a rifle and handgun of an unidentified model, over $20,000 in cash and a bottle of an unknown type of pills.

"The marijuana had a street value of upwards of $100,000,” Hanson said.

The stash, which was in plain sight within the motel room, is a third degree felony because the amount of marijuana was between five and 50 pounds and weapons were confiscated, police said. A third degree felony charge could lead to a jail sentence of up to 10 years or a fine of up to $10,000.
