TxDOT widens lanes to S&W hospital site
Construction crews are currently working on the entrance to the new Scott & White medical center in Marble Falls, along with road work to make TX 71 safer for hospital visitors.

Road work has begun on the portion of TX 71 that runs west of US 281 in front of the future site of the Wayne and Eileen Hurd Regional Medical Center - Scott & White in Marble Falls to make it safer for hospital visitors.

In addition to the hospital entrance, construction crews are expanding the road to include right and left turn lanes in anticipation of an increase in traffic.

The Texas Department of Transportation is coordinating and funding the project. Marble Falls and Burnet County officials went to TxDOT about making changes to the stretch of road to make it safer.

"They visited with our district engineer and talked about their concerns for safety when the hospital and clinic came in,” Howard Lyons, TxDOT area engineer, said. "They were able to cost share with us. They provided the funds for plan development.”

Isn't that lovely. Too bad TX DOT can not do that for those of us that live on Hwy 281 S.
