Inch in K’Land; hail pelts Llano

An afternoon thunderstorm dropped dime-sized hail in Llano and over an inch of rain in Kingsland.

There may be more rain to follow this weekend.

Thunder boomed and lightning cracked seemingly overhead – but no one in Llano complained, thankful for the wet stuff on the parched county. Llano officials said there were no reports of hail or wind damage.

The LCRA reported 1.31 inches of rainfall in Kingsland, with the Llano River at Llano receiving 0.52; Little Llano River, 0.2; Sandy Creek near Kingsland, 0.3; Walnut Creek near Kingsland, 0.3; Tow, 0.01; and Round Mountain, 0.4.

Although Marble Falls reported only 0.02 inches of rainfall, the majority of meters in Marble Falls, Burnet, Buchanan Dam, Spicewood and Johnson City did not report any rain from last night’s storm.

This may not be the last of the stormy weather. Bob Rose, LCRA meteorologist, posted a blog about a low pressure system predicted to move east through the Rocky Mountains.
