HSB Resort, Escondido see new golf professionalsFebruary 11, 2013, 9:30 pm by Alexandria Randolph
In January, the Horseshoe Bay Resort hired a new director of golf operations after the former director took a job at Escondido. Golf professional Steve Hatch began his new position as director of golf operations at the resort after Glenn Lee took the position of general manager at the Escondido Golf and Lake Club. Hatch’s first day at the resort was Jan. 2, and he said that the resort is different from other courses that he has managed, including St. James Bay Golf Resort in Carrabelle, Fla. and courses at the Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts. "The (Horseshoe Bay) resort is more spread out. It’s a very large property,” he said. "There are a lot more parts to it, and that makes it more fun I think.” Hatch said that he received a degree in advertising from University of Texas at Arlington, but he got into professional golf course management because of the people. "The people in golf are great, so I stuck with it,” he said. Hatch and his wife are native Texans, and took the
opportunity to move to the Highland Lakes area after a 10-year stint in
Florida.
