One injured, one arrested after accident
One driver was injured and one arrested following a rollover collision Monday afternoon at the TX 71 and CR 409.

One driver was injured, and one was arrested Monday evening in a two-vehicle accident in Spicewood on TX 71.

The accident occurred at about 5 p.m. Monday when Nicholas Wade Cazalas, 24, headed eastbound in what is reportedly a friend’s maroon Dodge Ram pickup, and rear-ended an unidentified woman also headed eastbound in a forest green Honda sedan. The force of the collision caused the sedan to veer across the oncoming traffic lanes and off the road into the ditch. The Dodge pickup flipped onto the driver’s side and slid to a stop blocking both west and eastbound lanes of the roadway.

Emergency responders extracted the woman from her vehicle. She was alert and conscious at the time of extraction. She was then air-flighted to a nearby hospital. Her current condition is unknown.

After removing the overturned pickup truck from the roadway, Cazalas was taken into custody by DPS officers. The charges against Cazalas are currently unknown.

In June 2010, Cazalas was arrested and charged in Burnet County for possession of marijuana and manufacturing or delivery of a controlled substance of up to 28 grams, and again in February 2011 for manufacturing or delivery of a controlled substance of up to 28 grams.

Texas DPS troopers, Burnet County Sheriffs deputies, members of the Spicewood Volunteer Fire Department and EMS, Round Mountain Volunteer Fire Department and Marble Falls EMS responded to the scene.
