Demolition group to attend meeting
Workers with Omega Demolition Corporation have begun demolishing the old US 281 bridge over Lake Marble Falls, where a large gap in the concrete is starting to form.

After first saying it had no plans to face public questioning about its planned implosion of the old US 281 bridge, TxDOT has announced that it will appear with the general contractor and the demolition contractor for the bridge project at an open meeting at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, March 5 with the Marble Falls City Council.

TxDOT and Archer Western also has said they will be at the 7 a.m. meeting of the Marble Falls Daybreak Rotary Club the same day.

The agency’s reversal came after a meeting with Marble Falls Mayor George Russell, who had been asked to invite the state agency to meet the public by the Gateway Park Property Owners Association, whose members have property within a stone’s throw of the bridge.

In an unusual move, Russell said that the public will have the opportunity to question representatives of TxDOT, Archer Western and Omega Demolition Corp. when they appear before the council at City Hall.
