G’Shoals welcomes interim manager

Mayor Dennis Maier recognized new Interim City Manager Marvin Townsend, who will officially begin work March 4, at the opening of the Granite Shoals City Council Tuesday night.

Townsend, accompanied by his wife Jody, was able to sample a wide range of city business at the meeting. He heard about candidates in the upcoming election, observed the appointment process for new members of city commissions and committees and listened to a discussion of city goals and prospects for property sales.

With the deadline for filing set for 5 p.m. Friday, six citizens have filed as candidates in the May 11 General Election.

"Dennis Maier has filed for re-election as mayor,” said Granite Shoals City Secretary Ronda Reichle.
