Marble Falls' In Harmony Thrift store closes

After eight years of serving the Highland Lakes, the shelves and racks of the In Harmony Thrift Store are clearing out for good.
The thrift store, which provides scholarships to students and funds basic underwriting costs of maintaining the Harmony School of Creative Arts, will close Saturday.
"We just donít want to see it go,Ē said Sarah Williams of Deerhaven, who on Monday signed a petition against closing the store.
Thrifting is her preferred method of shopping, partly for the thrill of hunting for a bargain, but also because she also feels a sense of social responsibility. She has been coming to the In Harmony store for years and brings in visiting family and friends to spend the day shopping in Marble Falls.
"I just love to shop here; the staff is wonderful and Iím a really firm believer in recycling Ö Itís just a shame itís closing,Ē she said.
Her sentiments are shared by many. A petition to keep the
store open on In Harmonyís front counter held four pages of names as of Monday
afternoon. The notepad containing the petition is lined with patron names,
opinions and personal notes.
