Cottonwood Shores approves parks governance

Cottonwood Shores Council voted on a new Parks and
Recreation Commission Ordinance in Thursday's meeting.
After much discussion about the future of the Parks and Recreation Commission, Cottonwood Shores Council approved a new ordinance that instigated some changes with the commission during a meeting last week.
"All recommendations will go to city council,” said Councilmember Roger Wayson. "If you’re (commissioners) are not showing up to meetings, the council has the right to take you off.”
The council also said the chairperson of the commission will act as liaison to a city parks committee.
Councilmember Stephen Sherry suggested that the ordinance add a failsafe to the commission.
"Is there anyway to add a suicide note that if there is a failure to staff the commission by Jan. 14 it voids the ordinance?” he said.
"I have no problem with that,” Wayson said.
