Cottonwood Shores fire chief resigns post

The Cottonwood Shores Fire Chief resigned last Wednesday because of a "difference of opinion” over its direction, although no one was giving any specifics as to what they were.
Former Cottonwood Shores Volunteer Fire Department Chief Deavon DeLancey said he resigned due to a "difference of opinion in where the volunteer fire department needs to be headed.”
DeLancey has been a volunteer with the department for seven years and took the position of fire chief in the fall of 2012.
He said the department board meeting on Tuesday lasted until almost midnight.
"We had a few council members there because they heard a rumor the board was about to demote me,” he said.
While he declined to describe the circumstances surrounding his resignation, DeLancey said that he would continue to be involved in the community.
"The whole reason I joined the fire department seven years ago was to help out. I still have that determination,” he said. "I think I’m going to wait a little while and see where the wave takes me.”
