Colt instructor gets Teacher of the Year award
Stacey Cox in her Colt Elementary classroom where she works with kids in special education. Cox was given a Teacher of the Year award for her work.

Stacey Cox, a special education teacher at Colt Elementary, was both shocked and elated when she was named Special Education Teacher of the Year for Region 13.

Cox has been teaching for 12 years and taught at both Highland Lakes and Colt Elementary schools during that time. The Southwestern Texas State graduate and her achievement was presented to the Marble Falls ISD school board Monday night.

"I’m amazed and surprised it happened,” Cox said. "There are so many amazing teachers that I think are more deserving of this kind of recognition. I just come to work every day, do my job and do my best with the kids.”

Region 13 is one of 20 regions in the Texas Education Agency (TEA) and consists of 17 Texas counties, including Burnet, Blanco Llano and Travis counties. Cox is now up for selection along with 19 other special education teachers for the state honor, which will be decided by the TEA in January.
