EDC enters phase two of industry search

August 01, 2012, 9:00 pm by Adam Troxtell

The Economic Development Corporation has decided to go forward with the second phase of a consulting firm partnership that is designed to bring new industry to Marble Falls.

Back in June, the EDC had approved working with Theory Into Practice, Inc., a firm that helps municipalities identify areas of the industry and manufacturing market they could tap into for an economic boost. It is similar to the Retail Coach, which has been consulting the EDC since early this year on ways to keep a larger customer base in the city by bringing in more shops. The second phase with Austin-based TIP will cost the EDC $22,500.

Senior Consultant Alan Cox presented TIP’s findings to the EDC board, which showed Marble Falls would benefit from targeting industries in the medical field, tech services, light manufacturing, sustainable agriculture and resort-related industries.

"The purpose is to provide a first-cut of potential targets the EDC would benefit from targeting and bringing in,” Cox said.
