Conditional zoning allowed in MeadowlakesAugust 14, 2012, 9:00 pm by Adam Troxtell
Those who want to build in Meadowlakes now have more options after the City Council amended their zoning ordinance to include conditional permits. In the 3-1 vote, Mayor Pro Tem Franzella Jones – serving in the absence of Mayor Don Williams – voted along with council members Paul Sarcione and Barry Cunningham in favor of the measure, which stems from a request to put a public storage facility in the northwest corner of the city. A conditional use permit will allow the business to move in should council approve it. Council member Mary Ann Raesener was the only opposing vote. She said the reason was down to the amendment being proposed to change only part of Meadowlakes. "Adopting a law for a city when you’re trying to change one strip didn’t make sense to me,” Raesener said. For the full story, see Friday’s Highlander. |
