Marble Falls passes shred New Braunfels

Marble Falls worked the ball inside well and continued to improve on its passing game in a 67-36 win over New Braunfels Thursday night to win its pool in the American Bank of Texas Tournament.

The victory was Marble Falls third in a row and second straight in the tournament.

Marble Falls (3-2) will play Plainview at 10:30 a.m. Friday in a bracket play matchup in the 18-team tournament.

Teagan Hall had her best game of the season with 14 points on seven of nine shooting from the floor. Her teammates worked the ball well to the post. She had six points in the first quarter when the Lady Mustangs quickly jumped to a double-digit lead. Point guard Blanca Fonseca added eight points and was one of the key passers.

Junior Sarah Stripling scored 21 points on nine of 15 shooting. Stripling also led on the glass with five rebounds.

The Lady Mustangs shot 63 percent for the game (27 of 43) and were 10 of 16 from the free throw line. New Braunfels Unicorns shot 32 percent (15 of 47) . The Unicorns were three of 10 from the free throw line.

Marble Falls had 21 rebounds led by Stripling, Haley Stephens (four) and Reann Hall (three). New Braunfels had 16 rebounds. New Braunfels committed 16 turnovers compared to 14 for the Lady Mustangs.
