Heinatz delivers key homer

Marble Falls had the right guy at the plate.
In a game when the Mustangs struggled to get hits into a heavy wind, senior Stacy Heinatz delivered with a 3-run blast over the left field fence for the game’s big hit that propelled the Mustangs to their 18thwin of the season and keeps the team tied with Dripping Springs for the district lead.
In the fifth inning with the game tied at 3-3, Heinatz smashed a 1-0 pitch to score Carson Bowen and Joey Blackledge. Bowen had singled and stole two bases while Blackledge reached on a fielder’s choice.
In a tight series throughout, Vista Ridge answered with two runs in the sixth on three singles off Heinatz, who came in to relief pitch in the fifth inning with one out.
Heinatz persevered for the victory, allowing five hits and striking out three.
Starter Garrett Winslett did his job again, going 4 1/3 innings allowing three runs on five hits with four strikeouts.
Marble Falls offense had just four hits off two Vista Ridge pitchers. They all came in the fourth and fifth innings.
Damico had a key double in the fourth with two outs to score two runs and push the margin to 3-1.
Vista Ridge bounced right back in the top of the fifth with two runs only to have Marble Falls take the lead for good on Heinatz’s homer in the bottom of the fifth.
Damico scored after leading off with a walk in the sixth, advancing on a sacrifice and a stolen base. He scored on a passed ball.
In the fourth inning, Marble Falls utilized two hit batsmen to spark a three-run inning. Heinatz led off by getting hit then Domenic Patterson singled and with one out, Saul Guzman got hit by a pitch. For Guzman it was the third time he took an inside pitch off his body in the doubleheader. Jay Watson sacrificed in one run and then Damico added his key double for two more runs.
