Thomas signs with Longwood

Sarah Mason Thomas, who will be competing next week for her fourth state tennis title for Faith Academy, signed a college letter of intent with Longwood University Wednesday at Faith Academy.
Thomas said she likes the small-town atmosphere at Longwood which is in Farmville, Virginia.
Longwood University is a Division I school in the Big South Conference.
Thomas is a graduating senior at Faith Academy of Marble Falls and has been playing tennis since she was five. She is currently ranked 68 in the girls 18 Super Champ division of the Texas section of the United State Tennis Association. She has played on the Faith Academy Tennis Team for seven years and has won two girls singles state championships and one doubles state championship with Savannah Still.
She will defend her girls singles state championship next week in Waco.
Thomas along with teammates Nicole Johnson and Savannah Still have been members of the Faith Academy girls tennis team who have won three consecutive state team championships and are hoping to win their fourth in Waco, April 24-25.
Rounding out the team this year include Senior Bekah Graham, Junior Teresa Bennett and sophomores Ariel Blaylock and Brandi Kuhlmann.
Thomas is coached by Faith Academy’s head coach and Horseshoe Bay director of tennis Michelle Stallard, Horseshoe Bay head tennis professional Aland Price and Faith Academy assistant tennis coach Todd Still.
Thomas comes from a tennis family. Her older brother Hunter Thomas advanced to the quarterfinals in boys singles at the TAPPS state tennis tournament. Her sister Lana was a member of Faith Academy’s first girls state championship team. She was a girls singles two-time state semifinalist. Her dad also plays recreational tennis.
