Freshmen teams split games

The Marble Falls freshmen Gold team beat the Boerne Greyhounds, 36-6, Thursday in sub-varsity football action.
The Mustangs got started early with a fumble recovery on the first play from scrimmage that was recovered by Jeff Atkison as the Mustangs rolled to 30 points in the first quarter.
Armond Pierre scored on a one-yard run and Cody Machen added the PAT on a run for an 8-0 lead.
Chris Despain returned a fumble 14 yards for the second score. It was 16-0 a the 6:21 mark of the quarter.
Pierre added touchdown rus of three and 24 yards to end the quarter.
The defense struck again with a Marichalar interception of 25 yards to set up a two-yard score by Jonatan Abney.
The Mustangs led 36-0 at halftime.
Chris Guerra and Despain added two more interceptions.
The Marble Falls Purple squad lost, 21-17.
Gavino Tinajera kicked a 23-yard field goal for the Mustangs first score.
Kameron Ellenberger intercepted a pass to set up the field goal.
Marble Fallsí defense made two fourth-down stops inside the 10 and 25 to retain the 3-0 lead at halftime.
Boerne took the lead on a 60-yard touchdown pass at the 6:08 mark of the third quarter.
Marble Falls bounced back with Cade Cool hitting Damien Sanchez on a 68-yard touchdown for a 10-7 Marble Falls advantage with four minutes left in the third quarter.
After a 50-yard touchdown pass by Boerne, the Mustangs connected on a 32-yard screen pass form Brandon Duggins to Sanchez. Marble Falls led, 17-14 with 2:26 left in the third.
Boerne scored on a 21-yard run to take the lead for good with 1:11 in the third.
In the final four minutes, Boerne hit a 65-yard pass but were stopped on downs at the Marble Falls 14.
The Mustangs took three minutes to drive from its 14 to the Boerne 20 before failing to convert on fourth down with 28 seconds left.
