Manzano’s run expected to air in prime timeAugust 02, 2012, 8:00 pm by Staff Reports
While it is not known if local runner Leo Manzano’s first running event of the 2012 Olympics will be shown in full on television, interested Marble Falls residents and University of Texas fans will have to wait until prime time to see him on NBC. Manzano runs at 2:05 p.m. (Central Daylight Time) in the games held in London, but NBC will be showing track and field events on tape delay between the hours of 7-10 p.m., a network spokesman said. Earlier, Austin’s KXAN sports director said there is no guarantee of Manzano’s 1500-meter race will be shown live. Whether is it shown live or not, Marble Falls is showing it’s support for the two-time Olympian and 2012 national champion in the 1500 meters. The 5-5, 125-pound Manzano qualified for his second Olympics with a win in Eugene, Ore. on July 1. He ran a 3:35.74 to nip rival Matthew Centrowitz in Oregon. Manzano will be trying to post one of the top times in Friday’s qualifying round to advance to the semifinals on Aug. 5. The semifinals are 2:15 p.m. Sunday. The Olympic finals in the 1500 meters are 3:15 p.m. Tuesday. |
