Faith Academy broke loose with a 20-4 run in the second quarter and handed Blanco a 62-42 defeat Tuesday.

The No. 1 state-ranked Flames (15-1) put three players in double figures led by a huge game from Juliette Fisher.

Fisher was five of seven shooting for 10 points and grabbed 13 rebounds. Nine of her rebounds were off the defensive glass.

Faith Academy will continue its run Friday night with a road game at Thrall. Tipoff is 8 p.m. for the Lady Flames.

Bailey Brinkley scored 16 points and grabbed five rebounds and three steals. Brinkley was six of 15 shooting overall, making five of 11 from 2-point range. Brinkley was perfect on three free throw attempts.

Taylor Denton finished with 14 points on five of 17 shooting. Denton made two 3-ponites and is hitting at a 34-percent clip from beyond the arc.

Joanna Piatek turned in a solid overall game with eight points (three of nine shooting), with four rebounds and four steals.

"We did not have our normal energy level, but I was pleased that we fought hard on both ends to acquire the win,’’ coach Jerry English said. "Juliette Fisher was a real beast on the boards with 13 rebounds.. We are still not finishing the play like we need to, but I think we are starting to attack the basket on offense like I want us to.’’
