Faith Academy improves to 2-0

September 19, 2012, 9:00 am by Mark Goodson

The momentum changed several times in Faith Academy’s 36-20 victory over Eastside Memorial Friday at Marble Falls Middle School.

Quarterback Jason Byrd rallied the team with two second half scores to secure the second win of the season for the Flames.

Byrd’s 70-yard run with 3:51 left in the third quarter capped a two-play 85-yard drive and Brian Freeman’s PAT kick gave Faith Academy a 29-20 lead.

The Flames added a four-yard pass from Byrd to Freeman to finish off a 10-play, 49-yard drive in the fourth quarter for the final touchdown and Freeman’s added the PAT sealed the 36-20 win with 4:41 left in the game.

Faith Academy had built a 22-0 lead before the visitors from Austin stormed back to cut the deficit to 22-20.

Faith Academy use big plays to build the lead.

Faith Academy will play St. Mary’s Hall of San Antonio on the road Friday.
